1st July 2015 saw the inauguration of Digital India Week 2015 by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Indira Gandhi indoor stadium in New Delhi. Digital India has been envisioned as an ambitious umbrella program to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. In brief the objective is to reform governance through effective use of technology.
Thus it was apt that technology was employed to reach thousands of government officials and BSNL officials in different locations to showcase the Prime Minister’s message and launching of several initiatives from the event venue.
PeopleLink Unified Communications & Telepresence was brought in to enable the video connectivity of BSNL Offices with the event venue which already had 31 districts which were all connected to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) platform, using fixed room video conference hardware. The locations were connected and the same was then streamed across on BSNL & PeopleLink Websites for the Online viewers.
Employing its PeopleLink Software Video Conferencing Platform, the company showcased its interoperability with different hardware systems and a unique combination of simultaneous streaming to the multi-locations live effortlessly, making it a perfect solution for the Government in reaching out to the masses for effective Governance.
The challenge that PeopleLink faced was the short time frame given to them to execute a multi-location connectivity with the necessary hardware peripherals like HD professional PTZ cameras and Echo cancellation devices for ensuring the experience remained pleasant. PeopleLink with its major partner network was able to execute it within the time allotted. Another challenge that comes up in these kinds of managed deployments is that the internet availability in these locations. PeopleLink’s unique encryption helps in these scenarios to enable the video conferencing even at low bandwidths.
